Are there additional costs w/ video? Like hosting fees?
This question depends on what your goal is with video sharing. If you are trying to distribute and share your video among many sites, use free video sharing sites such as YouTube, Vimeo, Metacafe, or whichever you choose. But, be careful when using these sites. It is unprofessional to link a YouTube video to your website. It is reasonable for blog material, but not for your website. Save yourself the …
…embarrassment and do not link a YouTube video to your site EVER. Your website should have web videos embedded that are of good quality and convey a message. If you are a low traffic website, you can host your videos on your own web server. Since there is not a whole lot of traffic going your way, there will not be any mishaps. If you are looking to increase traffic to your site, use a hosting platform. We recommend Brightcove. It ranges from $30 to $40 per month and achieves what you want and more. With Brightcove, you have control over the player with a point and click format. Knowledge of programming is not needed with Brightcove which makes it that much better. The video will never be down on Brightcove. To answer the question, there are additional fees for hosting platforms, but it is a reasonable price and will generate traffic.

Brightcove is fantastic. Thanks for this blog!
Good to know that there is more to video production than just making a video.
Lots of good content here. Thanks for this post.
Great blog. Thanks for talking about this. Having everything money wise upfront is very convenient.
At first I didn’t want to pay for something like hosting, but it’s all the rage now so I caved.
Great insights!
Thanks for restoring my confidence in Brightcove. I’d heard so many bad things about it, so I chickened out on getting it set up. I think I’m gonna go for it!
Love your blog!
It’s on the right track but still too cost prohibitive for small beesnusiss. As a video producer a lot of our smaller clients are just learning the value of YouTube and getting them to leave that would be a challenge especially when you can create a YouTube channel for free. It’s got some amazing features and I’ll be watching closely to see where it all goes. Sorry Jeremy I haven’t gotten to the free trial yet, but once I do I’ll come back and let you know what I think.
The cost of hosting is NOTHING compared to the benefits of having your own site…
This is a great tip! I always hated putting my videos on YouTube where anybody could just take them. I also HATE the ads.
Hosting fees come with the territory. It’s usuallly not that much at all. I’m very happy I went for it.
Great post! I love your blog!
If you’re worried about the costs of making a video, the hosting fees are the cheapest on the list!
Great post. For me, sites like YouTube are okay because I just want to share with friends and family right? I also agree that paying for hosting is so worth it.
Wow I’m glad I saw this. I didn’t know it was unprofessional to link my videos form YouTube. Maybe it’s okay for my band but not necessarily for my business!
