Using LinkedIn to Build Your Foundation
LinkedIn is a social networking site that offers an individual and/or business to build a professional profile. Creating a LinkedIn profile establishes a base for an individual or company from which they can start to generate influence, introductions, and resources. The first thing that needs to be done is the completion of a profile. All areas of the profile need to be completed for the utmost success and recognition. In order to link to other businesses or individuals, everything must be filled out to the full capacity. A completed profile provides other LinkedIn users with a preview of the individual or company’s interests, experience, and background information. With the rapid use of social networking sites, it is crucial for everyone to create a LinkedIn profile.
There are guidelines when deciding to create a LinkedIn profile that will put your profile at the top.
Upload an Appropriate Image
Have an appropriate picture uploaded so that there is a face with a name. Other users want to see the individual in order to get a better understanding of the information that is available.
Create a Persuasive Headline
Create a headline that will grasp the attention of the viewer of your page. You want the viewer to stay on your page and read about your experiences and interests. Use brief, unique keywords that will stimulate their minds and that will also pop up in searches.
Provide Your Current Position
It is very important to list your current position and also two previous positions to showcase your experience and talent in the field. Provide descriptions for each position that are sufficient yet simple enough for the reader to understand. Also, use keywords in these fields to keep the reader’s attention and to come up in searches.
Fill in the Summary Section
You want to greet the viewer with a short blurb about you and what your goals are. It is suggested to use third person when writing the summary section to avoid redundancy.
Complete the “Specialties” Area of the Profile
Completing this section will give the reader an idea of what you are capable of and what your strengths are. It is important to showcase your talents and/or a company’s services. Along with other sections, be sure to use the keywords that will be the most useful.
Provide Recommendations
Before asking for recommendations from others, it is preferred that you or your company provides recommendations to others. This will establish a relationship between you and the other individual or company and will show your want to help others before helping yourself. After providing recommendations for others, ask for a recommendation that will add to your profile and will provide credibility.
Complete the Other Sections
The “interests” and “group associations” sections also need to be completed. Essentially, the whole profile needs to be fully completed to ensure success. Add a fair amount of your interests to the section that correlate with the targeted company’s interests and specialties. Become part of groups that associate with your interests and likings.
